Established in 1978, Backwell Karate is a traditional Karate club with a long history of helping students from the Bristol area reach their potential through the martial arts. Beginners are always welcome.
2. Bedminster Judokwai (Ref #1560)
We run Judo classes for children and adults aged 5 to 55. Classes run Tuesdays and Fridays from 7.15pm. We are only the second judo club in Bristol to achieve the Club Mark award.
3. Bristol City Shorinji Kempo Dojo (Ref #2314)
Shorinji Kempo (The Way Of The Shaolin Temple Fist) is a Japanese martial art with Chinese roots, which includes effective self-defence (hard and soft tech), philosophy, meditation and shiatsu style massage. Shorinji Kempo is a system for everyone with over 1.5 million members worldwide. Beginners are welcome to start throughout the year. The first lesson is free. 4. Bristol Japan Karate Association (Ref #2462)
Learn traditional Shotokan karate with the Japan Karate Association, the largest of it's kind and officially recognised by the Japanese government as the worldwide foundation for karate. Learn self defence, develop character, keep fit, improve confidence, improve flexibility and balance.
5. Bristol Ninjutsu (Ref #2694)
Traditional bujinkan ninjutsu classes that are taught by 13th dan instructor Marc Moor. These martial arts classes are informal and good fun, and are taught by an instructor who has a great deal of martial arts experience. As well as holding a 13th dan in ninjutsu, Marc Moor also has black belts in judo, karate and aikido, and he has years of experience in private security and working as a body guard. The first class is free, so come along and get involved!
6. Bristol Shintaido (Ref #2507)
Shintaido: Meditation in Motion. Shintaido is a new art of movement from Japan, with roots in the traditional martial and healing arts. It offers a unique combination of soft and expansive, dynamic movement, incorporating voice, touch, and moving meditation. FAST provides world class self-defence, conflict resolution and assertiveness training, utilising adrenaline stress scenarios. This type of training is unique in Bristol and has been featured on shows such as Oprah & many magazines. Taught in short seminar formats, there is no need for years of martial arts training. We teach awareness and assertiveness skills, setting boundaries and simple effective physical techniques. Classes for children, adults & women-only. Weapons defence available too.

30. Zenshin Dojo Ki Aikido Club (Ref #1759)
Aikido is a Japanese martial art based on using the balance and power of the opponent against them.The Warmley Club follows the principles of this art in a friendly and informal way.
