Established in 1978, Backwell Karate is a traditional Karate club with a long history of helping students from the Bristol area reach their potential through the martial arts. Beginners are always welcome.
2. Bedminster Judokwai (Ref #1560)
We run Judo classes for children and adults aged 5 to 55. Classes run Tuesdays and Fridays from 7.15pm. We are only the second judo club in Bristol to achieve the Club Mark award.
3. Bristol Japan Karate Association (Ref #2462)
Learn traditional Shotokan karate with the Japan Karate Association, the largest of it's kind and officially recognised by the Japanese government as the worldwide foundation for karate. Learn self defence, develop character, keep fit, improve confidence, improve flexibility and balance.
4. Bristol Krav Maga (Ref #2546)
One of the UKs largest Israeli Krav Maga Schools situated in Clifton. Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art/self defence discipline., taught by professional instructors. We are one of the few professional schools in the UK , welcoming people from all creeds, races and religions.
5. Bristol Shintaido (Ref #2507)
Shintaido: Meditation in Motion. Shintaido is a new art of movement from Japan, with roots in the traditional martial and healing arts. It offers a unique combination of soft and expansive, dynamic movement, incorporating voice, touch, and moving meditation. 6. Bristol Shotokan Karate Club (Ref #1843)
Interested in learning karate in Bristol? Why not come along to Bristol Shotokan Karate Club. Karate is an excellent martial art for improving fitness, strength and flexibility. We are a small friendly club training regularly here in Bristol.
7. Bristol Taekwondo School (Ref #2446)
Learn WTF Style Taekwondo from Kukkiwon certified 7th dan and International Instructor. We are a friendly family orientated school well suited to all levels and ages (over 7 years). We offer all new students a free trial lesson enabling them to evaluate the school and to see if they like the art and sport of Taekwondo.

12. Kamon Wing Chun Clifton (Ref #2456)
Our aim is to teach progressive Kamon Wing Chun kung fu for self-defence, to improve self-confidence and to inspire and encourage a sense of lifelong personal development and learning. We teach in a friendly, supportive environment. Beginners class is on Mondays & Wednedays 6:30 to 8pm. Beginners are always welcome to join or call in for a visit to watch a class.
13. Krav Maga Filton (Ref #2548)
Krav Maga is the Self Defence and physical conditioning method used by the Israeli Military to turn ordinary civilians into combat fit, combat ready troops. Its used by over 500 military and Law Enforcement agencies. There is no faster, or more proven route to self defence and fitness.
14. Kyoto Shotokan Karate Club (Ref #2076)
We teach traditional Shotokan Karate, belonging to a major organisation - SKI (www.skief.com). We have mixed classes suitable for men, women and children (7+). We meet twice weekly on Monday and Thursday evenings (6:30-7:30; 7:30-8:30) at St. Bernards School and Avonmouth RFC.
15. Phoenix Judo Club (Ref #2513)

16. St.George Kung Fu Club (Ref #2405)
We are a martial art class training here in St.George since 1998. We offer new students the opportunity to come and have a FREE trial 1/2 hour session to try out our class. We are very relaxed and students pay per class; no advanced payments for lessons or direct debits. This is an adult class, if you are looking for a childs class have a look at our website.
17. The Budokan Backwell Judo Club (Ref #2530)
The judo club has been running in Backwell since 1986 and teaches young people from the age of 6 years to adult. Classes run on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. Please feel free to come along and see us or visit our website for more information.
18. Wing Chun Southville (Ref #2328)
Wing Chun Southville teaches direct, simple and efficient Wing Chun kung fu in a sound self-defence framework. Open since 2005, there are regular classes in Southville and Bedminster. We train in a friendly open, honest and, most importantly of all, a relaxed environment where everyone feels comfortable to engage and to learn. Beginners are always welcome. We train in Southville on Thursday 8-9.30pm and at Ebenezer Church, British Road, Bedminster on Monday 8-9.30pm.
19. Zenshin Dojo (Ref #1368)
We offer a non-aggressive and non-competitive style of martial arts suitable for adults and children (separate classes). Our aim is to provide personal challenges and stimulate self development. We are a friendly and well-established group who practice in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Ladies only classes are available and first session is FREE!
