Latest news and information
We are looking for people with GP Referral Exercise Instructor qualifications. If you are interested in part-time work please contact 0117 922 4719.
Scheme developments - July 2008
- The Active Choices scheme at Ashton Park Sports Centre will be temporarily suspended as of 11 July 2008. The instructor is leaving their position and we have been unable to find a suitable replacement as yet. The aim is to restart the scheme in September 2008. If you have any concerns or queries regarding this please call 0117 922 4719.
- We are now running group inductions for the scheme at Horfield Leisure Centre. These inductions will take place every six weeks. There is still a one to one assessment carried out after the group induction. This change of format is to enable a more time efficient scheme at the ever popular Horfield site.
- Southmead Development Trust (Greenway Centre) and Brunel Fitness Suite (Speedwell Road) will be running the Active Choices scheme as of September 2008. Please check this website for more details in the coming months.
- Withywood Sports Centre is being refurbished as part of the change over of the school site to the new Merchant’s Academy. This refurbishment is likely to take place over the summer with exact dates yet to be confirmed by the developers. For more information please call 0117 922 4719.
Scheme developments - February 2008
An update for those of you familiar with the "Physical Activity Referral Scheme (PARS)".
- PARS has been re-branded as "Active Choices" as part of the development plan for the scheme put in place after a recent service delivery review.
- The referral process is the same (please visit the "How the referral process works" link at the top of the page).
- We aim to make several improvements to the scheme over the coming months and would welcome any feedback or suggestions you have. Please email your comments to activechoices@bristol.gov.uk and don't forget to include "Active Choices" as the subject.
