It's easy to fall for a scam.  Sometimes you don't even realise the money has gone until it's too late.  Bristol Trading Standards Service know of many people who've lost money - sometimes thousands of pounds because they were tricked into paying but got nothing in return.  Most scams are fraud and those behind them are criminals!

Being Scamwise in the South West

That's why the fifteen Trading Standards authorities in the South West are running a 'Scam Wise' campaign.  People need to know how to recognise a scam and how to protect themselves.  We're  sending out general advice leaflets and 'No Doorstep Callers' stickers.
