Introduction
Welcome to the Race Equality section of our web site. Promoting Race Equality has been a core area of the Council's work, particularly since the passing of the Race Relations (Amendment) Act in 2000 which helped strengthen our existing equalities commitment by giving councils a positive responsibility to "eliminate unlawful racial discrimination".
These pages provide information about some of the projects we are involved in, the Beacon Award we have revieved for our work in Promoting Racial Equality and allows you to download a number of documents providing more detail.
