History
Willmott Park was built as part of the development of Hartcliffe during the 1970s and was named after Roy R Willmott, a city councillor for Southville and Bishopsworth from 1953 until 1974. Councillor Willmott died on 11 November 1974 at the age of 53. He is commemorated by this park which was opened in 1975 when a tree planting ceremony took place on 11 November, exactly one year after his death.
