Who are we?
The Pollution Control Team is the section of the city council dealing with pollution. The team is part of the Public Protection Group in the Neighbourhood and Housing Services Department.We deal with a wide range of pollution matters which include noise, air and land pollution.
What do we do?
- Providing advice and information about pollution matters
- Investigation of noise, air and land pollution complaints
- Regulation of around 115 industrial processes under the Local Authority Pollution Control and Local Authority Pollution Prevention and Control regimes.
- Dealing with contaminated land
- Advising the Council's Planning Development Control Teams about potential pollution impacts of new developments
- Acting as 'Responsible Authority' under the terms of the Licensing Act 2003 to prevent public nuisance from noise from licensed premises
- Responding to requests about environmental information
- Providing an emergency response to pollution incidents in support of the council's civil contingencies responsibilities
- Conforming to the Regulatory services - Enforcement policy

Saturday 19.00 – 03.30 next day
(The service does not currently operate on Bank Holidays)
