City Spaces - Introduction

Welcome to City Spaces, Bristol. Here is all the information you need to plan, manage and market public events, commercial promotions, advertising and sponsorship in prime, high footfall locations in Bristol city centre and around Bristol's historic Harbourside.

These dramatic, high profile public open spaces are rich in atmosphere and the heritage of Britain's most historic port. The spaces make great event venues, both on grass and hard standing, and have excellent visitor facilities and fast connections to local and national transport networks.

Start by choosing the right space for your event from the choices of event sites below. Each site has an Event Management Guide which provides detailed site plans and information about site use, conditions and access. Next follow the simple six step booking process.

Centre Promenade

The Centre Promenade is a busy, dynamic, 24hr city centre space with constant pedestrian and vehicle movement and is a very popular site for commercial promotions, and markets. The Centre Promenade is the city’s main bus and pedestrian travel hub and has a correspondingly high 24/7 footfall. The venue is surrounded by the characterful Old City and business districts, cultural centres, leisure facilities, and is adjacent to the  redeveloped Harbourside. Click here to find out more.

College Green

College Green is a planning award winning historic site in the heart of the city, and within sight of the Centre Promenade. College Green is bordered by the Council House, Cathedral and the Central Library, and lies at the foot of Park Street - a popular shopping area adjacent to key university facilities. The venue is adjacent to the busy Harbourside and Old City areas as well as historic city districts and green spaces. This more relaxed venue hosts lower impact events and promotions. Castle Park

Castle Park is the largest city centre green space and an attractive, historic site right in the centre of town. It has two thousand years of history, with important archaeological remains, attractive gardens, and peaceful wooded areas with riverside walks. There are two main event venues; St Peter's Square, a leafy square at the top of Union Street, and the Arena, a grassy circular event space. The park borders Harbourside, Broadmead shopping centre and the Old City. Click here to find out more.

Amphitheatre and Waterfront Square

The Amphitheatre and adjoining Waterfront Square are a unique Harbourside performance space and event venue. Built on the regenerated landscape which had been part of the ancient city docks, this striking waterfront location, where the River Frome flows into the Floating Harbour, gives an impression of a large open space right in the centre of the city’s characterful maritime heritage.
