Introduction
Most of the resources and facilities mentioned in these pages can be found in the Reference Library on the first floor of the Central Library. Where they are not in the Reference Library their location is given, along with a link to the correct section.
Contact details
The Reference Library is the largest public reference library in the South West with a collection that was originally founded in 1613 with the first Bristol Library on King Street. The current book stock numbers over a third of a million titles. There are over 80 work spaces in the Main Reading Room.
Enquiries are welcome, in person, by telephone, email or in writing. There may be a charge for enquiries which require research - staff will advise you if this is the case:
