Important information

Pool closure for refurbishment

The closure date of Monday, 22 February 2010 has now been confirmed. The pool will undergo refurbishment work to meet the standards of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). The pool will be closed for approximately 3 months to allow for this work to be done. Please see below for a list of alternative pools.

Why not walk or cycle to your local pool. This is also a great way to warm up gently. Cycle parking stands are located at all Everyone Active pools or you can leave the car at home and use Walkit to plot your walk. You will be offered a direct route between two points, or a quieter off-main-road route, with estimates of route length, time taken, CO2 saved and calories burnt on your healthy walk.

Free swimming lessons

Opportunities to learn to swim for free for over 11's are currently on offer at Bristol South, Easton and Henbury swimming pools, with the possibility of further free lessons at Jubilee, Bishopsworth and Horfield swimming pools later on in the New Year.

Participants signing up to the free swims will have the chance to take part in up to six hours of lessons by qualified instructors and once they’ve completed their free lessons a £20 free swim voucher is available to all those who continue with lessons past the initial stage.

Free swimming

From April 1, 2009 all children and young people aged 16 and under and anyone aged 60 and over - can enjoy free swimming in Bristol’s pools during the published public swim sessions. To take up the free swim offer all swimmers will need an “Everyone Active” card. The cards are free and are available from any of the centres operated on behalf of the council by SLM.
