Suspension of research service
As you may be aware, Bristol's Museums, Galleries and Archives are undertaking a major project to develop an exciting new Museum of Bristol on the site of the previous Bristol Industrial Museum. A large number of staff across the service are dedicated to the planning and implementation of the new museum. Because of this, we are having to temporarily reduce other areas of our work. Unfortunately, this affects our research service, which we have had to suspend until the end of March 2010.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. However, if you are unable to visit the Record Office in person, you could employ a member of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives to undertake research on your behalf.
Please visit their website for further details www.agra.org.uk
Or write to The Acting Secretary, AGRA, 120 North Gate, Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire, NG24 1HJ.
There are other researchers, not accredited by AGRA, who work in the Bristol area; indeed you may come across their contact details on other local history or family history web sites, but Bristol Record Office is not able to recommend any particular researcher.
Information on any future developments with regard to the status of the Research Service will be published here on our website.
