Bristol's Harbour is one of the most interesting and historic ports in Britain. There is plenty to explore and enjoy during a visit to the city, including the city's famous events programme.

Bristol City Council licences and hosts an extensive, diverse and renowned annual outdoor events programme in Bristol’s magnificent parks, green spaces, heritage City Spaces and harbour. Most events take place from April to September.

For many years, Bristol Harbour has had its own event culture with an annual event programme of water based sporting and leisure activities including dragon boat racing, rowing and canoeing competitions and powerboat races.

Many of these events take place at the western end of the harbour with its peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful views towards Ashton Court Estate, and great facilities for visitors. This is also the area where the majority of watersport clubs, societies and associations are based.

Many other events use locations around the Harbour, and the easily accessible routes around the area, for fun runs, healthy activity, charity events, and maritime and sporting competitions.

This programme culminates at the end of July each year in the EDF Energy Bristol Harbour Festival, a weekend festival which showcases the splendid harbour environment with the best of local talent and entertainment.
