Bristol is at the hub of the national rail network in the West of England. Local, regional and inter-city services operate from the main station at Temple Meads.  The First Great Western Route Map provides details of the local rail network.

National rail services

There are two major rail stations serving Bristol – Bristol Temple Meads on the eastern edge of the city centre and Bristol Parkway to the north of the city in South Gloucestershire.  First Great Western, CrossCountry and South West Trains provide all of the rail services in the area.

Bristol's suburban railway

Bristol has eleven suburban rail stations:

  • Lawrence Hill
  • Stapleton Road
  • Montpelier
  • Redland
  • Clifton Down
  • Sea Mills
  • Shirehampton
  • Avonmouth
  • St Andrew's Road
  • Bedminster
  • Parson Street

The Ministry of Defence Headquarters at Filton Abbey Wood to the north of the city also have their own station which is available for public use.
