Schools improve A level results
Release Date: 14-Aug-2008
A level results for students at Bristol schools announced today show a strong performance, with a pass rate of 98%.
The proportion of students achieving the highest grades has increased significantly, with passes at grade A and B up to 56%, an increase of 6 percentage points year on year.
Average point score per entry has also increased, up 7 points to 219.
Councillor Helen Holland, Leader of Bristol City Council, said: “Congratulations to all students finding out their A level results today. Well done to them for their achievement, and to their teachers and families for their support. Making a difference to young people in our city by ensuring they receive a high quality education is a top priority for the council.”
The results are for South West Bristol Post 16 Centre at Ashton Park School, North Bristol Post 16 Centre at Cotham and Redland Green Schools, and the Redcliffe Sixth Form Centre at St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School. This represents just under five hundred students.
In addition to this, many students study at local colleges on a wide range of post-16 courses, including A levels. The colleges, and the City Academy, report results separately.
