Taste of the West awards for local traders

Results have just been announced of the prestigious 2008 Taste of the West Awards, and several traders who can be found trading at St Nicholas Market are amongst the class winners.
· About Soup were delighted to receive a Gold award for their Pea and Mint Soup and a Bronze award for their Carrot, Orange and Ginger Soup. About Soup opened its doors to customers at St Nicholas Market in March 2007 and has been developing a unique range of soups and salads ever since.
To taste these award-winning soups visit About Soup’s permanent stall in the Glass Arcade at St Nicholas Market, or their stall at the weekly farmers’ market on Wine Street.

· Tower Farms Cheesemakers scooped a Gold award for their Dollop - Somerset Clotted Cream, as well as a Silver award for their farmhouse butter. They have attended the Bristol Farmers’ Market every week for the past seven years, and continue to impress customers with their tasty selection of locally-produced cheese, milk and cream.

· Brown Cow Organics received an impressive three silver awards for their 'Damson yoghurt', River Cottage Raspberry on the bottom yoghurt' and 'River Cottage real vanilla yoghurt'. Brown Cow Organics trade at several markets across the South West including Bristol's Slow Food Market, which takes place on the first Sunday of every month.

· Keens Cheddar were awarded a silver award for their Mature Raw Milk Cheddar which is produced using traditional methods on their family-run farm in Wincanton. To sample this award winning cheddar come along to Keens’ stall at the next Slow Food Market,which is taking place on Sunday, 7 September.

Now in it's 15th Year, the Taste of the West Awards is one of the most highly-respected award schemes in the South West, and with such an amazing selection of produce grown, reared and produced in the region, competition is always steep.

It is really pleasing that all of their passion and hard work is acknowledged like this. It is also great news for people visiting St Nicholas Market, as it reaffirms the high standards and quality of the traders attending Bristol's favourite market place.”
