Event at the new Museum of Bristol

Release Date:  27-Nov-2008

Aspiring street artists are invited to a live painting workshop this Sunday (30th November) to cover the hoardings at the new Museum of Bristol to celebrate the launch of a new book on the history of street art in the city.

The book, 'Children of the Can - 25 Years of Bristol Street Art' by Felix Braun features the big names in Bristol street art culture over the last 25 years. Many of the artists featured in the book will be at Sunday’s event at the museum helping aspiring young artists make their mark on the hoardings. They’ll be open to questions from budding painters and happy to give advice.

The hoardings at the new Museum are gradually being covered with painting projects by community groups across Bristol and will continue to be used as an outdoor gallery. The Museum’s communities team is working on several exciting projects involving young people in the near future and invite anyone interested to get in touch. The theme for Sunday’s event is a chronological view of Bristol through the eyes of Bristol street culture and everyone with an interest in street art is welcome.

The workshop starts at 2pm. Anyone wanting to take part needs to book a place with Liz Clarke or Ben Meller on tel: 0117 9031094, or email liz.Clarke@bristol.gov.uk or text 07810 506 964.
