Young people asked to help shape services

Release Date:  18-Nov-2008

There are just a few days to go for children and young people in Bristol to tell the council what they think of services for youth and play in the city.

The annual youth and play services survey is online and has been distributed through youth clubs. Topics covered by the survey include membership of youth and play projects, and whether opening times, equipment and the range of activities are appropriate.

Bristol City Council runs more than 30 youth and play projects across the city, working with tens of thousands of young people each year. Views gathered through the survey will help the council continue to develop these services, by giving more information about how they are used and what young people think of them.

Councillor Peter Hammond, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Cohesion and Raising Achievement, said: “We are committed to promoting the voice and influence of young people in our city. This is an opportunity for them to make a difference to the way we run youth and play services and to ensure their opinions are heard on a whole range of other issues. I hope young people take the time to help shape services in our city.”

The youth and play services survey is available at www.bristol.gov.uk/youthandplay until Friday 21 November
