Certificates for city caretakers
Release Date: 21-Dec-2009
Twelve city council caretakers are set to receive NVQ level 2 level certificates from Bristol’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Christopher Davies on Monday, December 21, 2009.
The presentation at 3.30pm at St Anne’s House, Brislington will mark the successful completion of six month’s training, which covered key topics such as cleaning and customer care.
The employee development initiative is the result of a partnership between the city council, the GMB Trade Union and The City of Bristol College. The NVQ involved the caretakers being observed doing their day-to-day work by a team of college assessors over the six-month period.
Graham Sims, Bristol City Council’s strategic director Neighbourhoods, said: “I am pleased and proud with the achievements of our caretakers. They have reached a nationally- recognised standard of high quality work and are to be congratulated. Their success is due to their own hard work and commitment to the job - and also thanks to our partners, the GMB Trade Union and City of Bristol College.”
