Views needed on new school for St Pauls

Release Date:  16-Jun-2009

Views needed on location of new school for St Pauls

Views are needed on where a £10.5 million school, children's centre, GP surgery and social care offices should be located in St Pauls, Bristol City Council announced today.

Two public information sessions will be held this week to help gather views on three potential locations:

+ the old St James and St Agnes School site on Haltson Drive;
+ the Cabot school play area and old Andalucia school site facing onto Dove Lane; and
+ the Welsman/Children's Centre site (between the Inkerman Pub and St Pauls Park).

Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Cllr Clare Campion-Smith said:

"We intend to open a new school for St Pauls for September 2012 and have the opportunity to locate it with other facilities for families.  We are at the stage where there are various pros and cons to all of the potential locations so it is really important that local people come forward now to let us know what they think."

Representatives of Bristol City Council and St Pauls Unlimited will be at the information sessions on Thursday 18 June at 3.30 - 4.30pm and 6 - 8pm at the cafe in St Pauls Learning and Family Centre, Grosvener Rd, St Pauls.
