Cash boost puts local people in the picture
Release Date: 04-Feb-2010
Local people are set to benefit from a £6,000 cash windfall to support free photography workshops - ‘Photography: Capturing The Image’ - at Bristol’s St Paul’s Learning & Family Centre. The one-day workshops take place throughout February and March and run from 10am to 5pm.
St Pauls Learning & Family Centre is an ideal centre to offer photography courses as it has purpose-built darkrooms and has run a range of successful courses in traditional photographic techniques, through the city council’s Adult Learning Service.
‘Photography: Capturing The Image’ is offering workshops in traditional and alternative photographic processes. The aim of this project is to enable people to participate in creative courses that do not require qualifications, but can lead to further learning if they wish. The workshops also aim to build confidence and support well-being.
Places are still available on the following one-day workshops:
- Gumbichromate workshop - 11th Feb & 4th March
- Cyanotype workshop - 25th Feb
- Albumen workshop 18th Feb & 11th March
- Saltprint workshop - 18th March
To book a place or find out more information, please visit the St Paul’s Learning & Family Centre, or tel. 0117 9145470. To find out more about ‘Photography: Capturing The Image’ visit www.bristol.gov.uk/darkrooms
The cash windfall is from the government’s £20 million Transformation Fund as part of a ‘learning for pleasure’ initiative spearheaded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). It also supports the government’s ‘Learning Revolution’, which aims to provide creative learning opportunities for adults across the country.
