The Home Authority Principle
Bristol City Council Trading Standards Service is committed to the home authority principle. This trading standards service will give traders within Bristol guidance and help to ensure they comply with the various pieces of Trading Standards legislation.
Trading Standard Officers can liase closely with Bristol traders and act as a point of contact for officers from other areas. This may help prevent the situation where companies are contacted by various trading standards departments regarding one particular issue. It also improves the efficiency of the trading standards service at a national level, as it helps to prevent the duplication of work.
If you are a Bristol trader and you believe that your business could benefit by closer contact with this service, please get in touch.
The Local Authority Cordinators of Regulatory Services (LACORS) web site explains the home authority principle in more detail.
