Welcome to Corporate Procurement at Bristol City Council!

Bristol is a thriving city in the South West of England. With a community population of nearly 400,000, Bristol City Council spends over £400 million a year on obtaining a vast range of supplies, works and services from the external market.

Naturally many organisations will want to sell their services and supplies to the council, so we have put together these pages to assist suppliers and contractors who wish to supply Bristol City Council with goods and services, by:

  • Outlining the rules that the council must follow
  • Alerting companies to opportunities to supply the council, including those which can be tendered for electronically
  • Explaining how to tender for the council's business
  • Explaining what is expected of you when undertaking work for the council

This authority has a Corporate Procurement Unit responsible for developing the Council's procurement strategy, policy, good practice and procedures to drive best value for money procurement. It is also responsible for corporate purchasing agreements for the majority of supplies, which are used commonly across the council. Responsibility for more specialist service and works procurements lies with individual departments who have the specialist knowledge regarding the requirements.

In September 2007, the council's Corporate Procurement Unit  became the the first recipient in Europe to be recognised with the USA’s National Purchasing Institute’s (NPI) Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award. The Corporate Procurement Unit can be contacted by using our feedback form.
