Our abandoned vehicles system lets you:
- Report an abandoned vehicle on the public highway
- Check if a vehicle has already been reported and what progress has been made
- Find out the background and legal issues regarding the removal of abandoned vehicles
- Find out what to do if a vehicle has been abandoned on private land
Report a burnt out or dangerous vehicle
Please report burnt out or dangerous vehicles to the Police Car Clear Hotline on free phone 0800 083 5115.
What do I do if I own a car and want it removed and disposed of?
Bristol City Council, Waste Services and Street Scene Group offer a service where an owner of a vehicle can have their car removed and disposed of legally.
There is a charge of £17.63 (including VAT) for this service. Payment can be made by either cheque or postal order.
If you would like to make a request for your vehicle to be removed and disposed of please download and complete the owners request form and send it back to us along with the correct payment.
Report an untaxed vehicle
You can report an untaxed vehicle by:
- Visiting the DVLA website and filling in their online report form
- Contact the DVLA Enforcement Telephone Hotline on free phone 0800 032 5202.
Please make sure that you have the following information to hand as it is needed to process the report:
- Registration mark
- Location of the vehicle
- The colour, make and model of the vehicle
Vehicle licencing
Remember, you can now apply for a new tax disc or, if you intend to take the vehicle off the road, declare Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) online by visiting the DVLA website
