CONTAINER will be presenting a series of six newly commissioned works in an exciting collaboration with Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery. The Plinth Project starts in March 2010 with a new sculpture by Ben Rowe. CONTAINER, an artists led exhibition and workshop space set up by the Stokes Croft Contemporary Arts Project CIC, have been commissioned to curate a series of six installations for the empty plinth in the entrance foyer of the Museum. This project continues to develop the links that are being established between the Museum and outside artist led groups. Ben Rowe gets the ball rolling with a new MDF sculpture. Parking: There are a number of multi-storey car parks nearby. Trenchard car park on Park Row and the West End car park, off Queens Road are the nearest. Limited, on-street parking is available next to the City Museum on University Road.
Getting there: By bus: Services 1, 8, 9, 40, 40A, 41, 54, 54A and U5 stop on Queens Road towards the Centre and Park Street Top away from the Centre. Services 586 and 587 stop on Queens Road towards Hotwells and Triangle West towards Clifton. By car: Follow the tourist signs to West End Car Park. On foot: Follow tourist signs (City Museum). It is about five minutes walk from the city centre.
