Your waste collection
If you have waste that cannot be recycled, you can put it in your wheelie bin. Your wheelie bin collection is fortnightly.
Our collection day finder will help you find out when your waste and recycling will be collected.
We will collect either
- the contents of one wheelie bin or
- three waste sacks (only if you do not use a wheelie bin)
Please note:
- We will not empty any extra bins, take extra waste sacks or collect bins that are too full to close.
- If your bin is too heavy to be wheeled to the back of our collection vehicle then we will be unable to empty it.
- After collection, please bring your bins back to your property and away from the kerbside as soon as you can.
Missed collections
Please wait until after 7pm on your collection day before reporting missed collections.
You can report your missed collection by completing our missed collection report form. We aim to return to collect your recycling and waste within two working days of your call.
If you have missed your collection day, please put out your wheelie bin on the next available collection date. You can also take your waste to one of our Household Waste Recycling Centres.
Assisted collections
If you need help putting out your wheelie bin and/or recycling boxes (due to disability, for example) you can request an assisted collection. To arrange this complete our assisted collection online form.
Items that you cannot dispose of in your wheelie bin
- Knives
- Hot Ash
- Infectious clinical waste
- Human waste
- WEE/SDAs (legislative)
- Non-compactable items (e.g. concrete, sheet metal, bricks)

Your wheelie bin
If your bin has been damaged or lost by the collection crew you will receive a free replacement bin. This will be confirmed by a card posted through your door and your bin will be replaced within ten days.
To request a new wheelie bin please complete our online new or replacement bins form.
When requests for replacement wheelie bins are considered to be higher than we would normally expect, a charge of up to £20 may be made.
Your waste
We expect you to take responsibility for the waste you produce. This means that we expect you to be responsible for:
- storing your wheelie bin properly
- putting your bin out for collection by 7am
- collecting your bin off the street as soon as possible after your collection
If you have any questions or need advice regarding what we expect from you, we can arrange for an officer to phone or visit you. Please call us for more details.
In situations where we have provided all the assistance we can, and the problem has not been resolved, it may be necessary to take further action. The legislation for this is currently being reviewed by Defra. We will publish the new legislation as soon as it becomes available.
