The Compass Centre on Jamaica Street provides a services for homeless adults. There is an outreach team to help people move from the streets into sustainable accommodation, a GP practice with a drug treatment aspect, training and education services and skills development.
It is where the following teams are based:
- The SPOT (Street Population Outreach Team) is a team run by St Mungo's to work with people who are or have been sleeping rough to find and keep appropriate accommodation. They have expertise around homelessness, mental health and drug use, and excellent links with accommodation and other service providers. The SPOT is part of St Mungo's . - The Pathways to Employment (P2E) service co-ordinates training, recreation, education and employment opportunities for people who have been through homelessness. They run a range of accredited and non-accredited courses and programmes for people to work on their skills and make the journey from social exclusion to inclusion and employment. - The Homeless Health Service (HHS) is a registering GP surgery which specialises in health care for homeless people who may not access health care elsewhere. There are nurses and GPs who can perform the full range of GP interventions and prescribing. There is also a supervised methadone prescribing service to address the opiate dependence of relevant homeless people. The HSS is run in partnership between the Lawrence Hill Health Centre and SecondStep . For more information, call the HHS on 0117 9543079.
