Stop-specific timetable information is available via mobile phone through the Nextbuses and Traveline-txt services. This includes Real-Time Information (RTI) for the majority of city bus routes in Bristol including Park & Ride, Airport Flyer and Night Flyer weekend night bus services.
Nextbuses
Traveline NextBuses is a mobile internet service allowing you to search for a bus stop and find out which buses depart from it. All you need to do to receive a bookmark for the service is text ‘Traveline’ to 84268.
Once online you can search for your bus stop in a number of different ways.
- You can type in your postcode, street and town name or your bus stop code if you know it (shown in the yellow box at the top of the bus stop timetable display).
- The search results are shown plotted on a map to help you find the stop you are looking for.
- Select the required stop name to go straight to the departure times.
How much does it cost to use Nextbuses?
This service is free. Apart from any normal data charges made by your mobile operator (contact your operator for details).

Traveline-txt
The Traveline-txt service provides times of all local bus services in the Bristol area (including Real Time Information (RTI)) to your mobile phone via text message.
To use the service text the stop code of the bus stop you require times from to the Traveline-txt number 84268. Each bus stop in Bristol has the specific bus stop code in the yellow box at the top of the bus stop timetable display.
All stop codes for the Bristol area can also be found on the Transport Direct website.
Using the ‘Find a Place’ tab enter your postcode or place.
- You will be presented with a map of bus stops in your chosen area.
- The stop code consists of seven letters and appears after the bus stop name, for example College Green (stop pa) bstdtja.
If you are unable to find the bus stop code you need, please contact the Public Transport and Park & Ride Group and we will provide it for you.
Send the stop code as a text message to 84268. In less than a minute you should receive the times of the next three buses from that stop.
If you need times for a specific service, put a space after the stop code and add the service number, for example 'bstdtja 8'.
The times of buses will be displayed on your mobile phone, based on the 24 hour clock if receiving scheduled times (for example 10:40) and an expected waiting time if from a real-time information system (for example 3 minutes).
How much does it cost to use traveline-txt?
The message you send will cost your normal text message rate. The reply from Traveline is free.
