Waste awareness full school programme

We offer Bristol schools free waste and recycling education workshops. Working with all schools in Bristol, we will deliver inspiring curriculum-linked educational programmes and will help and support schools' compliance with Sustainable Schools and achieving Eco-Schools awards.

Our free programme will help your school to:

• bring recycling and the environment to life for pupils
• improve your recycling facilities and save your school money
• face new sustainable schools targets with confidence.

Top performing recycling school case study

Parson Street Primary School followed the advice for recycling and as a result currently recycle 88% of their school's waste.

Recycling rates for Bristol schools

We have created a recycling rate for all Bristol schools by comparing how much each school recycles, to how much waste it produces overall.  This means, a school that recycles a little, but is careful with what it throws away, could be one of the top recycling schools.

Certificates have been sent to the following schools for:

• First Place – St George Primary School.
• Second Place – Hotwells Primary School.
• Third Place – St Annes Junior School.
• Least Waste Produced – St Annes Infant School.
• Most Improved School – Chester Park Junior School.
• Most Recycled – Chester Park Junior School.

Every Bristol school has the following recycling services available to it:
 
Paper recycling - collected using boxes in classrooms then put into two wheeled wheelie bin
Food recycling - collected using caddies of food waste boxes then put into two wheeled wheelie bin(s)
Glass recycling - in two wheeled wheelie bin(s)
NEW Cardboard and Tetra Pak (Cardboard drinks carton) recycling - in four wheeled wheelie bin(s)
NEW Plastic and Cans recycling - in two wheeled wheelie bin(s)
