Celebrating the achievements of older people awards 2012
Do you know someone over 50 who is a role model for older people or deserves recognition for their achievements or contribution to others?
Why not nominate them for an award? Let us celebrate and value individuals who make life a better place for us all.
Tell us who you admire by completing our awards nomination form (pdf, 77 KB).
Background
The Celebrating Age Festival was set up in 2008 in response to the Bristol older people’s strategy. We understand that Bristol is in many ways a young city, with much of its culture and activity orientated towards young people. Our vision is to:
- Recognise the positive value of older people and combat age discrimination
- Place older people at the centre of thinking and planning of services
- Actively promote independence and well being rather than just being reactive
- Take a more ‘joined up’ approach to the delivery of services
- Encourage social cohesion across the generations
The numbers of people attending has grown each year from approx 600 people in 2008 to 3500 people in 2011.
