We currently have sufficient adopters for young children.
However, over the next few months we are hoping to recruit families for children over the age of 3 as well as those who have or are likely to have significant additional needs; generally as a result of serious neglect, domestic violence and parental substance misuse.
Feel free to give us a call to discuss what you can offer the children we currently have waiting for adoption.
We run regular information events throughout the year, so if you are out and about in the city, you can drop by to pick up information and chat informally with our team.
Adopting a child with disabilities, drop in
Date: 10 June, 2015
Time: 9.30am to 12noon and 5.30pm to 7pm
Location: Junction 3 Library, Baptist Mills, Easton, Bristol, BS5 0YL
We are holding 2 open sessions for those interested in caring for a disabled child, from offering short breaks to adoption. Come along and speak to experienced carers and workers if you think adopting a disabled child is something you could consider or would like to know more about.
Drop in and speak to us on an individual basis. Look forward to seeing you!
We recognise that choosing to adopt is not a decision that can be made lightly or quickly.
We are here to provide guidance and advice throughout your adoption journey; from deciding whether adoption is right for you, through to support for you and your family from our excellent post-adoption team.
At Bristol, our experienced, dedicated adoption team has been successful in helping hundreds of people to become adoptive parents. With more children than ever entering the care system, the demand for adoptive parents has never been greater.
Here at Bristol we have many children of various ages and backgrounds waiting for adoptive parents right now.

Fiona and Matthew: Bristol approved adopters
"The process of being approved was nowhere near as intimidating as we had thought. Our social worker really took time to get to know us as individuals and we felt absolutely supported throughout the whole process. The on-going adoption support that Bristol offers has been really useful for us and our children at different points since we adopted them. It's good to know that you can access relevant advice or support when you need it."
Kalsoom and Zafar: Bristol approved adopters
"We were supported fully in the adoption process from the minute that we asked for an adoption pack. The process was very smooth and we considered our social worker a friend who very much looked out for our interests and provided good advice and support throughout the process. We have a beautiful daughter who was placed with us at 6 months."
Nikki and Andrew: Bristol approved adopters
"Our social worker was fantastic. Really realistic, understanding and supportive. There was nothing we couldn't ask him. He had a great sense of humour which made the challenging times easier to deal with."
Ofsted and Awards
Ofsted rated Bristol City Council's Adoption Service as "outstanding" in our most recent review.
