We are currently unable to take any new referrals from prospective adopters with the exception of families living outside of Bristol who would like to adopt siblings. See below for our Information Event on Siblings.
This is due to the success of recent campaigns raising the awareness of the need for adoptive families. This decision will be reviewed in early December 2014 so please check back with us then.
You are welcome to contact us for an information pack or you could visit www.first4adoption.co.uk to see if there are other authorities or adoption agencies in your area who can accept referrals at this time.
We run regular information events throughout the year, so if you are out and about in the city, you can drop by to pick up information and chat informally with our team.
We Belong Togther- Adopting Sibling Open Information Event 10 November 2014
In celebration of National Adoption Week 3-9 November we are holding a joint event with other local authorities and adoption agencies in the South West on the 10 November 7pm to 9pm at the Canalside, Marsh Lane, Bridgwater, Somerset TA6 6LQ.
This is an event for people interested in becoming adopters for sibling groups only, so if you like the idea of a ready made family, only going through the process once and like us, recognise the importance of keeping siblings together, come along to our open event!
You will hear from adopters who have already adopted siblings and can to chat to adoption workers about siblings available in the South West region, as well as talk to adoption services such as Bristol City Council.
No need to book- just turn up! However feel free to call us for more information on 0117 353 4200.

Fiona and Matthew – Bristol approved adopters
"The process of being approved was nowhere near as intimidating as we had thought. Our social worker really took time to get to know us as individuals and we felt absolutely supported throughout the whole process. The on-going adoption support that Bristol offers has been really useful for us and our children at different points since we adopted them. It's good to know that you can access relevant advice or support when you need it."
Kalsoom and Zafar – Bristol approved adopters
"We were supported fully in the adoption process from the minute that we asked for an adoption pack. The process was very smooth and we considered our social worker a friend who very much looked out for our interests and provided good advice and support throughout the process. We have a beautiful daughter who was placed with us at 6 months."
Nikki and Andrew – Bristol approved adopters
"Our social worker was fantastic. Really realistic, understanding and supportive. There was nothing we couldn't ask him. He had a great sense of humour which made the challenging times easier to deal with."
Ofsted and Awards
Ofsted rated Bristol City Council's Adoption Service as "outstanding" in our most recent review.
