The Equalities and Community Cohesion Team supports council staff to reduce disadvantage for equalities communities in all aspects of service delivery, employment and quality of life. The team works with Directorates to ensure the council delivers services appropriate to diverse needs taking account of the changing demographics of Bristol.
We use equality impact assessments (pdf, 83 KB)(opens new window) as a mechanism for considering the likely effects of our policies and programmes on people with relevant protected characteristics and to ensure that we are giving due regard to our public sector equality duties. We have produced guidance (pdf, 95 KB)(opens new window) for our colleagues.
Details of our impact assessments can be found on these papges. For the equalities impact assessments relating to the budget, see our Budget proposals 2012/13 (pdf, 0.6 MB)(opens new window) document.
Details of our discussion forums, consultations about equalities issues and the data we use to inform our equality assessments can be found on our data and research page.
