The Historic Environment In Bristol
Bristol is one of Britain's most attractive cities. The quality and extent of its historic environment make it a unique and distinctive city.
The rich variety of Bristol’s historic environment includes:
- villages like Westbury-on-Trym and Stapleton
- beautiful open spaces like the Downs and the Frome Valley
- a medieval centre
- Georgian suburbs of Clifton and Queen Square and
- the historic dockside.
Our service
We provide specialist advice which helps shape the continuing evolution of the city. We do this by working with colleagues in Planning to assess changes which affect the historic environment.
We also produce documents such as Conservation Area Character Appraisals. These provide guidance on how the City can continue to change whilst keeping its character.
For more advice on conservation, please visit the Conservation Advice and Policy page.
