Our equalities policy
The council's Equalities Policy – Equal Opportunities and Anti-harassment (pdf, 260 KB) (opens new window) sets out how the council will eliminate direct and indirect discrimination.
Equalities priorities
The Bristol City Council's Equality Plan 2012-15 (pdf, 63 KB) (opens new window) sets out the council's equality objectives and how we meet our public sector equality duty to promote equal opportunities, eliminate discrimination and foster good relations between different communities.
Environmental Access Standard
The Environmental Access Standards (pdf, 1.9 MB) (opens new window) has been authorised to take into account local expectations of good accessible design and national changes in technical, legal and governmental guidance to promote Best Practice in environmental design.
Equalities monitoring
Monitoring people by equalities group is an essential tool we use to identify inequalities both in service delivery and in employment. It enables us to take action to reduce and eliminate differences in uptake/representation/outcomes experienced by different groups of service users and employees and to improve our services for the benefit of Bristol’s communities.
