Congestion procedure - Please note that if a taxi is seen by a taxi marshall or on CCTV footage that is blocking the public highway the vehicle details will be forwarded to the Licensing Team. The Licensing Team will then contact the licence holder of the vehicle advising that the vehicle has been seen blocking a public highway. In the event that the vehicle is seen blocking a public highway on more than one occasion the Licensing Team will take action against the driver which could lead to their licence being suspended.

MOT cancellation charge - If you are unable to attend your pre-booked MOT test please contact the MOT bay on 0117 9036319 to cancel your appointment. Please note if your test is within 24 hours of your call you will be charged a cancellation fee. If your provide the MOT bay with more than 24 hours notice you will be issued with a unique reference number, please provide this number when attending your next MOT test to avoid being charged the cancellation fee.

Application forms - Please note that renewal application forms are not available online and are only available from the Licensing Office as they are forwarded to your home address partially completed with your personal / vehicle details.

Road Safety Scheme - Stokes Croft - Bristol City Council introduced a road safety scheme into Stokes Croft between City Road and Jamaica Street junctions earlier this year in order to both reduce traffic accident numbers and to relieve traffic congestion. Part of the scheme involves banning a left turn into City Road from Stokes Croft. The kerb has been built up to discourage this manoeuvre and appropriate signage has also been introduced. Any vehicle making that turn is in conflict with pedestrians who have a green light to cross at the bottom of City Road. On occasions taxis have been seen to make this turn, which is both illegal and dangerous. Further action will be taken against those taxi operators who are seen to make this illegal turn. For your own safety and the safety of pedestrians please pass this message to as many taxi operators as you can.

MOT Bay -  To book your MOT call 0117 9036319. The costs are £48 for full MOT, £24 for a re-test and £10 for duplicate MOT certificate. Testing hours are Monday to Thursday 07:30 hours to 17:00 hours, Fridays 07:30 hours to 15:00 hours and every other Saturday 07:30 hours to 12:00 hours. Please note the MOT bay except cash and most credit/debit cards.
Taxi Appointments - Please note if you do not attend the Licensing Office at the correct time, a fee of £5.00 will be charged for a missed appointment and another appointment will need to be arranged which may not be on the same day.

Please ensure all of your documentation is up to date, particularly your DVLA licence with the correct address. Should you attend for an appointment without the necessary documentation, you will be unable to submit your application and will be asked to make another appointment.
