We provide information and assistance to help home owners live in a home that is safe, secure and free from health risks.

Due to current financial constraints we no longer receive a grant budget from central government, except Disabled Facilities Grants which is a grant to help adapt the home of disabled or older residents so that they can continue to live independently in their own home. 

However we will continue to accept loan enquiries from owners to help some homeowners on low incomes to carry out essential repairs to their home. For most homeowners enquiries for financial assistance from us are now being administered by WE Care and Repair on our behalf and in line with our Financial Assistance Schedule (revised October 2012) (pdf, 146 KB) (opens new window). The Private Housing Service still deals with enquiries for loans for specialist areas of work such as bringing empty properties back into use, PRC repairs and loans to private landlords in in areas where Discretionary Licensing Schemes have been designated.
