Customer notice - temporary pool closure
As part of the council’s capital programme 2012/13 we are to go ahead with the refurbishment of Jubilee Swimming Pool this spring. Therefore, the pool will be closed temporarily from Tuesday, 28 February 2012 at 9.30pm.
Works will include:
- Repairs to the roof
- New lighting
- Re-decorating the changing and shower facilities
- New fitness area with cardio vascular machines.
We are hoping to complete the refurbishment programme by summer 2012.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure - and hope during the closure period you will visit the brand new, Hengrove Park Leisure Centre.

Why is Jubilee Swimming Pool being refurbished?
The city council and its partner Parkwood Community Leisure have developed a viable business case for the swimming pool. A modest investment to carry out the necessary refurbishment works will keep the swimming pool open and will retain and extend additional leisure facilities within the local community.
How much will the refurbishment cost?
The refurbishment will cost £380,000.
How is Bristol City Council paying for this investment?
It’s part of the council’s annual capital programme.
Will Jubilee Swimming Pool close during the refurbishment works?
Yes, the swimming pool will be closed from Tuesday, 28 February 2012.
When will Jubilee Swimming Pool re-open?
It is anticipated that the pool will re-open in the summer.
What refurbishment works are being undertaken at the pool?
Structural repairs will be made to the building’s roof, including re-decorating the changing and showers facilities. Improvements to the lighting are also being made including re-wiring. In addition, the foyer area will be re-modelled to incorporate a 14-station fitness suite.

Yes, the changing facilities and showers will be re-decorated.
What will happen to the pool staff during the refurbishment?
Existing staff will be transferred to Hengrove Park Leisure Centre. New staff will be recruited for the re-opening of Jubilee Swimming Pool in the Summer.
Will Jubilee Swimming Pool be fully accessible when it re-opens?
The current disabled provision will be retained. Swimmers with disabilities will find state-of-the-art facilities at Hengrove Park Leisure Centre.
