Explore the villa and find out how to dress like a Roman. Meet our Roman family of craftsmen, handle real Roman objects and make your own Roman purse to take home.
Archaeology Explorers

Become an archaeology explorer and visit the following Festival of Archaeology events across the city. Collect a different stamp at each event. Can you collect them all?
Kings Weston Roman Villa, 10am-4pm
Find out about Roman medicine and meet our very own ‘Roman medicus’. Handle real Roman objects and find out what life was like at the Villa around 1,700 years ago.
Lawrence Weston Community Farm, 10am-4pm
Discover the Roman cure for an upset stomach and what the Roman army ate to keep them healthy on a medical plant and herb trail around the farm.
Sea Mills Allotments, 10am-3pm
Meet the Sea Mills Archaeological Research Team to find out about recent excavations and take a tour of where the Roman town of Abona once stood.
The Matthew, 10am-5pm
Jump aboard the Matthew, a reconstruction of John Cabot's famous ship, and meet Tudor sailors as they go about their daily chores.
Arnos Vale Cemetery, 10.30am -3.30pm
Hunt the fascinating symbols on the monuments. Explore the site and discover graves with beautiful art and fascinating stories.
