Museums at Night

Museums at Night gets musical with a family-friendly disco with a difference! Retro tunes, lights and musical games, inspired by Deller’s love of music. Presented by Mayfest and Qu Junktions. Free, suggested donation £2. Find out more about the event.
Little Green Museum
Thursday 19 June, 10am until 2pm
Do you look after a child who isn’t yet in school? Come and enjoy some of the museum’s amazing wildlife collections with storytelling, handling, let’s pretend and fun green-themed games. Suitable for 1–4 years, parents and carers. Free. Drop-in. Part of Bristol's Big Green Week.
Go behind-the-scenes Dino Delights
Wednesday 30 July, 11am until 3pm.
Discover the secret world of the museum’s geology collections, home to the bones of the Bristol dinosaur and friends! Tours every 30 mins. Book at reception on the day.

Tour our Natural History stores, see huge skeletons, tiny bugs and pickled fish. Tours every 30 mins. Book at reception on the day.
Family explorer kits
Discover Bristol Museum and Art Gallery afresh with an explorer backpack. Have a go at the photo trail, take a closer look with a magnifying glass and more.
Suitable for under sevens. £2 to hire (plus £8 refundable deposit)

What’s behind the red door… Red Lodge revealed

The Red Lodge Museum
A day of pop up talks and children’s activities to commemorate the girls and women associated with Red Lodge, including its use as a reform school set up by Mary Carpenter 160 years ago.

Kings Weston Roman Villa
Discover the food of the Roman Empire, handle real Roman objects and join in with Roman inspired activities. Part of the national Festival of Archaeology.
