Work in parks during poor weather
Snow and icy weather conditions have an impact on our parks team. During poor weather conditions the team will continue to undertake some of its regular maintenance functions, including tasks such as:
- Empty bins dog/litter
- Check and clean toilets
- Check play areas for litter and glass (grass and play surfaces)
In the event of prolonged snow or ice the parks team will be asked to assist in clearing snow and supporting essential services across the city. These include some schools that are off the gritting runs, elderly peoples homes, tower blocks, sheltered housing and offices from which critical services are run.
As a priority we will clear steps/access points within our parks, but will be unable to clear all footpaths, therefore please take extra care when walking or cycling in our parks in snow and icy conditions.
