Recycling in Bristol
If you have access to the kerbside, you can recycle in a number of ways:
To find out when your next collection is, please call Customer Services or use our collection day finder.
Missed collections
Report your missed collection by completing our missed collection report form. We aim to return to collect your recycling within two working days of your call.
Please wait until after 7pm on your collection day before reporting missed collections.
If you have forgotten or were unable to put your wheelie bin or boxes out on your collection day, please put them out on the next available collection date. You can also take your waste to one of our Household Waste Recycling Centres.
Please put your waste and recycling out on the edge of your property and clearly visible from the road on your collection day by 7am.
Assisted collections
If you need help putting out your recycling boxes (due to disability, for example) you can request an assisted collection. To arrange this complete our assisted collection online form.
Other recycling services
If you live in a block of flats, please have a look at our recycling in flats page to find out more information on the recycling services available to you. You may have or be able to have a Mini Recycling Centre.
If your item is not collected from the kerbside, use our recycling centre finder to find out where you can recycle it.
For those green-fingered among us, take a look at our guide to composting.

It's not all about recycling
On average a Bristol resident will generate about 440kg of waste every year. At the moment most of this ends up in a landfill site.
We can all help to reduce this amount, and not just by recycling as much as possible. Reducing the amount of waste we create in the first place is vital, and re-using what we can also helps. There is information on how to reduce, re-use and recycle (pdf, 4.1 MB) (opens new window), and a useful A to Z guide on individual items explaining what you can do to avoid sending them to landfill.
