The Tenant Support Service offers individual support to help you stay safe, well and independent in your own home. The service works with people who are vulnerable in some way. This can include, but is not restricted to, people who have difficulties due to disability, mental health issues, drug or alcohol problems and domestic violence.
How we can help you
The Tenant Support Service can help you to:
- Sort out any problems with your housing and help you to keep your home
- Deal with the practical issues of moving home or setting up a home for the first time
- Get the benefits you are entitled to and the services you need
- Support you and act on your behalf with the council and other agencies
- Sort out your bills and debts and help you to organise your money
- Point you in the right direction for employment /training and leisure opportunities
- Provide emotional and practical support
How can I apply to receive help?
If you would like to receive help an online referral via the Housing Support Register will need to be completed. Please contact us to apply.
How we work with you
At your first appointment a Tenant Support Officer will carry out an assessment with you. This is to identify what your support needs are and to jointly produce an agreed support plan.
Support is an ongoing process aimed at resolving your housing related support issues. This requires the Tenant Support Officers’ and your involvement to achieve jointly agreed outcomes. During the course of your support it maybe useful, with your agreement, to involve the help of other agencies.
We can work with you for up to six months and provide information, advice and practical guidance. The service is totally free as it is paid for through a government fund called Supporting People.
