Release date:
Thu, 12/07/2012
The City Council’s cabinet are urging people to support the All Together Bristol Peace Walk on Sunday 15th July.
The Bristol Multi-Faith Forum and Building the Bridge, with support from Bristol City Council, are gathering together the communities of Bristol for a peace walk to celebrate the continuing and growing unity of all groups in the city.
The walk on Sunday 15th July starts in Queen Square from 2pm and will make its way across Pero’s bridge to Millennium Square for 2.30pm.
This event aims to celebrate a unified and diverse Bristol, showing the way to those who seek to divide. Participants are invited to bring a flower to the event.
Council Leader Simon Cook said: “I very much support Bristol Multi-Faith Forum and Building the Bridge in their efforts to celebrate the great diversity of our city by organising the All Together Bristol Peace Walk.
“I am sure that Bristolians across the city will want to support the Peace Walk on Sunday and the council is keen to do what it can to support this important event.”
Cllr Gary Hopkins, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said: “Sunday’s event will be a very clear reminder to those who seek to divide that they are in a very small minority. The Peace Walk will be a show of strength for Bristol as a welcoming, vibrant city where we respect and celebrate different communities.”
