Follow the scarecrow trail at St Nicholas Market
Release date:
Wed, 08/08/2012
Visitors to St Nicholas Market can enter a fun competition by following the market’s first Scarecrow Festival and Trail as they shop amongst Bristol’s largest centre of independent traders and retailers.
Each week, until the end of August, shoppers can win £50 of St Nicholas Market vouchers by taking part in the free to enter competition and following the trail.
The Scarecrow Festival and Trail is an initiative of the market stallholders. There are 25 handmade scarecrows displayed around the market for visitors and shoppers to find. Each scarecrow is unique to reflect the diversity of Bristol's most popular market.
Market trader, Lucy Wheeler, of Beast, famous for its 'gert lush' Bristolian t-shirts, says: “The traders have come together to produce an amazing trail for visitors to St. Nicholas Market.
“We've all had lots of fun making our scarecrows. They're all unique and individual, reflecting the idiosyncratic nature of the Market. Some are beautiful; some convey a message and some of the scarecrows are quite bonkers. It's been great fun already watching people looking for them.
“We look forward to welcoming even more scarecrow hunters throughout August.”
The St Nicholas Market Scarecrow Trail runs until Friday, August 31. The market is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am - 5pm.
