Wild Fest! on the Northern Slopes
Release date:
Fri, 05/10/2012
The Northern Slopes are hosting Wild Fest!, a celebration of wildlife on The Slopes. Hundreds of local people will be coming out to enjoy the stunning city views and the amazing array of wildlife on this city site.
Wild Fest! runs from Monday 8th October to Saturday 13th October and will include such diverse activities as Natural Weaving, wildlife photography, Foraging for wild Food, African Drumming and Dancing, Outdoor Cooking and Wild Graffiti. Groups taking part will include local schools, disability support groups, walking groups, nurseries and a fitness group.
On Saturday 13th there will be a public event to which everybody is welcome (2pm to 6pm). There will be lots of free hands-on activities to suit all ages and all interests! You will be able to join a guided walk around the site to explore wild food, learn survival skills in the woodland, try your hand at drumming, have a go at making something from wood or decorating a flag or banner. There will be a programme of music from 3pm and food available from local providers, Bramble Farm and the Knowle West Health Project.
Wild City are working together with partners Youth Moves and Northern Slopes Initiative to bring this wildlife festival to people in Knowle West, Bedminster and beyond. Many local groups and organisations are helping out and taking part and the Lord Mayor will be visiting the Northern Slopes during the public event on 13th October.
