Taxis Complaints On-line Form

Whilst Hackney carriage and Private hire drivers undergo rigorous tests and checks before they are issued a licence, we occasionally receive complaints from the public about the taxi service.

To help us fully investigate a complaint we need clear and concise information concerning the incident. To help you we have produced an on-line incident reporting form that you may wish to complete.

If following completion of the investigation there is sufficient evidence to prosecute the driver you will be asked to make a witness statement and may have to attend at court. In some cases depending on the nature of the incident, the licensed driver may be requested to attend a meeting of the council’s Public Safety and Protection Committee, which has the power to take action against the driver’s Private hire or Hackney carriage drivers licence. This could include a period of suspension or revocation.

It is not always the case that any official action is taken as it depends on a number of factors however all incidents are carefully examined and taken into consideration as the council is always looking to improve the service we deliver to the public. Alternatively you may just wish to make some comments, in which case you only need to complete the last section of the form.

Please complete as fully as possible. If you need further advice please contact Licensing staff on 0117 914 2500. All information provided will be treated in strict confidence.

If the police are dealing with an incident it is generally the case that Bristol City Council Licensing enforcement officers must wait until the police investigation is completed before any action or investigation can be commenced.
