1. Where we are

The Old Council House has a convenient central location, close to many boutique and luxury hotels and restaurants which are suitable for wedding and civil ceremony receptions. The building has many interesting original features, including a grand sweeping staircase and outstanding decoration throughout.

The Old Council House is in the heart of the old city and about a 20 minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads train station.

Access information 

There is a level entrance at the side entrance of the building.

2. The Mayoral Room

The Mayoral Room is a popular choice because of its grand, yet intimate, atmosphere.

It has beautiful paintings of some former Bristol mayors such as Richard Lane and John Noble and an ornate fireplace.

Capacity

Up to 50 sitting guests, but is also suitable for smaller ceremonies.

3. The Lantern Room

The Lantern Room boasts a beautifully crafted interior, elegant lighting and Regency decor.

It's a stunning setting for your special event, with grand paintings of King George II and Queen Caroline overlooking the ceremony.

This room has a CD player compatible with i-pods and MP3 players and can also accommodate live music for your ceremony.

Up to 60 sitting guests.

4. The Grand Council Chamber

The Grand Council Chamber is an impressive room with plenty of natural light, the perfect venue for your special event.

Inaugurated by Queen Victoria, it displays large paintings depicting various events in Bristol’s history. 

This room has a CD player compatible with i-pods and MP3 players and can also accommodate live music for your ceremony.

Up to 150 sitting guests.

5. The Statutory Room

The Statutory Room is perfect for simple marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.

Up to 4 sitting guests.

Price

  • Monday and Tuesday: £57

Price includes two Registrars to conduct and register the ceremony.

The Statutory Room is not available from Wednesday to Sunday or on bank holidays. It's also not available for renewal of vows ceremonies.

Price is valid from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.
