1. Location, parking and access

The Old Council House has a convenient central location, close to many boutique and luxury hotels and restaurants which are suitable for wedding and civil ceremony receptions. The building has many interesting original features, including a grand sweeping staircase and outstanding decoration throughout.

The Old Council House is in the heart of the old city and about a 20 minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads train station.

There are extensive parking facilities nearby 

Access information 

There is a level entrance at the side entrance of the building.

2. The Mayoral Room

  • Seats up to 50 guests, but is also suitable for smaller ceremonies
  • A popular room because of its grand, yet intimate, atmosphere
  • Has CD player compatible with i-pods and MP3 players

Cost

From 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020

Monday to Friday: £239; Saturday: £285; Sunday and bank holiday: not available. 

Price includes:

  • Use of the room 
  • Choice of music and personal vows
  • Two Registrars to conduct and register the ceremony

3. The Lantern Room

•    Seats up to 60 guests.
•    Features beautifully crafted interior and elegant lighting
•    Can accommodate live music for your ceremony
•    Has CD player compatible with i-pods and MP3 players

Cost

Monday to Friday: £648; Saturday: £761; Sunday: £937; Bank holiday: £932.

Price includes:

  • Use of the room 
  • Choice of music and personal vows
  • Two Registrars to conduct and register the ceremony
     

4. The Grand Council Chamber

  • Seats up to 150 guests.
  • This impressive room is the ideal venue for larger ceremonies.
  • Can accommodate live music for your ceremony.
  • Has CD player compatible with i-pods and MP3 players.

Cost

Monday to Friday: £791; Saturday: £911; Sunday: £1123; Bank holiday: £1118.

Price includes:

  • Use of the room 
  • Choice of music and personal vows
  • Two Registrars to conduct and register the ceremony

 

5. The Statutory Room

  • Seats up to four guests.
  • Suitable for standard marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.

Cost

Monday and Tuesday: £57. The statutory room is not available from Wednesday to Sunday or bank holidays.

 

6. Rates for wedding or civil ceremony hire

All costs below are up to and including 31 March 2020. All prices include VAT where applicable.

There is a non-refundable fee of £30 to book a ceremony.
