Getting started

Simply click on the SignVideo button and connect to a BSL interpreter through webcam instantly.

Before using SignVideo BSL Live, please ensure you meet the basic requirements: 

  • PC with a webcam
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer V7 or V8, Firefox 3
  • Bandwidth of 256 kbp/s (upload and download)

Follow the steps below to make your phone call in BSL:

Step 1: Click on the SignVideo BSL Live button
Step 2: Connect to a SignVideo interpreter
Step 3: Ask for the required council department

Note: If this is your first time, you will need to download a one-off Live Plug-in. The Live plug-in enables good video quality and for your calls to be secure. Please follow the instructions once you are connected to the Web Access page.

No webcam?

If you do not have a webcam and internet at home, we have a SignVideo Access Point at:

Bond Street South,
BS1 3PH.

You can go to the Access Point for face to face conversations with our staff and to telephone us if you do not have a webcam and internet at home.
