Pest control

Who can book a pest control treatment, what pests we treat, fees and what you can do to deal with pests yourself.

We provide pest treatments where there is a public health risk for:

• Bristol City Council tenants
• vulnerable citizens, which will be assessed on a case by case basis
• limited commercial treatments or service contracts

We offer Bristol City Council tenants, vulnerable citizens and a limited number of commercial properties:

• an affordable high-quality service
• speedy response and eradication of pests
• excellent standards of customer service
• fully qualified and experienced pest control officers, RSPH/BPCA certification
• local knowledge and experience

Pests we treat

We treat:

• rats
• mice
• cockroaches
• wasps
• insects

Costs

If you're a Bristol City Council tenant, you might be able to get free pest control treatment for:

• rats and mice
• cockroaches
• wasps

We will tell you if you do not have to pay when you book an appointment.

If you need to pay, it will cost:

Commercial costs

We're able to provide a limited amount of commercial pest control services, such as private shops, warehouses and waste facilities.

For commercial pest control treatments or service contracts, call 0117 922 2500 for a quote.

An advisory visit survey fee will cost £75.

Extra costs

An additional £75 cost for rats, mice, cockroaches and wasp treatments may apply to larger properties. For example, properties with more than 4 bedrooms.

If you need to pay for a treatment and need any additional visits, it will cost £45 per visit, except for cockroach treatment which will be £58 per visit.

If you are advised that additional visits are needed, call 0117 922 2500 to book an appointment.

There may be an extra cost if more than one member of staff is needed, for example when a wasps' nest can only be reached by ladder. We will talk to you about this before we carry out the treatment.

Book a treatment

Before you book a pest control treatment you will need to let us know:

• the type of pest
• if you're tenant of a Bristol City Council property
• if you're a vulnerable citizen

You must make sure we can access your property at the time of your appointment.

We have the right to refuse entry into your property if no one is present aged 18 or over.

To book a pest control treatment:

• call 0117 922 2500 Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6pm, except midday to 1:30pm on Wednesdays when the phone lines will be closed for staff training
• email pest.control@bristol.gov.uk, with your address and phone number so we can call you back

Appointment times

When booking your visit, we can offer morning or afternoon timeslots:

• AM appointments are between 8am and 12.30pm
• PM appointments are between 12.30pm and 4pm

Cancel your appointment

You need to cancel at least 2 working days before your appointment, otherwise you will still be charged.

If you're not available at the time of our visit for your appointment, we will not be able to refund you.

If any extra appointments are needed due to the missed appointment, you will have to pay for them.

If you miss two appointments in a row, we will cancel your treatment and you will not be able to get a refund.

If you need to cancel your appointment:

• call 0117 922 2500, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm, except midday to 1:30pm on Wednesdays when the phone lines will be closed for staff training
• email pest.control@bristol.gov.uk. with your address and telephone number so we can call you back to arrange your new visit
