Clifton Village business and customer parking permits

Costs, information and how to apply for business and customer permits in the Clifton Village residents' parking scheme.

Business permits

Business permits are for operational vehicles that are insured for business use. You can have two vehicles on each permit so you can swap the permit between the vehicles. It will only cover one vehicle at a time.

Customer permits

Customer permits can be used by any vehicle.

How many permits you can get

You can apply for up to seven permits. You may be able to apply for more than seven permits depending on the parking capacity next to your premises or the number of full time equivalent (FTEs) employees you have.  The way you apply will depend on whether you are applying for up to seven or more than seven permits.

How we work out the number of permits you can have

We'll use the calculations below to assess if you can have extra permits. We have used an example of a business with 100m of available parking and 20 FTEs.

Parking capacity

We'll measure the parking capacity next to your premises. If your organisation owns more than one premises in the Clifton Village residents' parking area, the parking capacity allocation will be applied to each one.

  • 35% of total parking bay length in metres divided by 5 metres per car equals the number of permits
  • Example: 35% of 100m = 35m; 35m ÷ 5 = 7 permits

Full time equivalents (FTEs)

You can apply for one permit for every five FTEs up to a maximum of 30 permits per organisation. The FTE number will be based on the total number of staff working at each site added together.

  • Number of FTEs divided by 5 equals the number of permits
  • Example: 20 FTEs ÷ 5 = 4 permits

Total number of permits available

The parking capacity and FTE calculations are added together to decide how many permits your organisation can have.
Parking capacity plus FTE allocation equals number of permits

  • Example: 7 + 4 = 11

Hotels

Hotels can either apply for the number of permits equivalent to 40% of the number of bedrooms available for guests or apply on the same basis as larger organisations.

Conference venues

Conference venues can either apply for the number of permits equivalent to 20% of their average delegate numbers, or apply on the same basis as larger organisations.

If a conference venue is based at another organisation’s site, permit eligibility will be shared between those organisations.

Whether or not an organisation qualifies as a conference venue will depend on the primary purpose of the site. This will be decided by us and permits will be allocated on that basis.
