What the Safer Streets Fund is, what area will benefit and how.
The Safer Streets programme aimed to reduce burglary and theft in Manor Farm, Horfield.
This project ended in March 2021.
We were given £400,000 for the programme as part of the government’s Safer Streets Fund.
The roads included in the programme were:
- Maskelyne Avenue
- Bishopthorpe Road
- Rodbourne Road
- Kellaway Avenue
- Bilbie Close
- Reed Close
- Butterfield Close
- Kingsholm Road
- Kendon Drive
- Bishop Manor Road
- Kelston Road
- Wellington Walk
- Cherington Road
- Farington Road
Prevent crime
To help create a safer and cleaner environment by the end of March 2021 the programme included:
- removing derelict garages at Kendon Drive flats
- improved fencing at the rear of council properties at Kendon Drive, Rodbourne Road, Bishopsthorpe Road, and Butterfield Close
- secure alley gates at council properties at Butterfield Close, Bishopsthorpe Road and Rodbourne Road
- removing fly-tipped rubbish
- CCTV monitoring green space areas
- improved door security at the rear of Kendon Drive flats, Maskelynne Avenue flats, Butterfield Close flats, and Bishopsthorpe Road flats
- professional support for residents to improve security at their homes
- property marking kits for residents to help identify expensive items if stolen
- supporting the creation of Neighbourhood Watch Groups
