What the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board is, the criteria to apply, how to apply and the recruitment timelines.
We're looking for board members to join the Neighbourhood Board and oversee the Hartcliffe and Withywood Pride in Place Programme. This is a voluntary role.
For the inital set up, the board will meet monthly. There will also be themed working groups that board members can volunteer to be involved in.
The board will create a local Pride in Place plan, which will decide where and how funding will be spent in the local area. To find out more about the programme visit the Pride in Place webpage.
You can apply for the role if you live, work or have a connection to the area highlighted on the map below.
Application criteria
You'll need to be over 14 years old to apply.
If you're aged 14 to 18 you can apply for a young person role.
Priority will be given to people living within the boundary shown in the map.

We want the board to be diverse and representative of the local community. There is a set number of places on the board to ensure we have representation from different groups in the community.
On your application, you should indicate which of the groups listed below you identify with and are happy to represent. You can select multiple if you identify with more than one group.
The groups are:
- 6 people who live within the boundary area
- 2 people to represent young people, aged 14 to 18 (see the under 18s role description)
- 1 person to represent people over the age of 60
- 1 person to represent LGBTQIA+ community
- 1 person to represent the disabled community
- 1 person to represent the global majority community (Black, Asian, Minority, and Ethnic)
- 1 person to represent parks and green spaces (you are actively doing work in a park or green space)
How to apply
There are two ways to apply. You can:
- apply yourself
- be nominated by someone from the boundary above.
If you're nominating someone, you must make sure you have their permission before you submit the application.
If you're nominating someone under 18 you'll need their guardian or parents consent to be on the board. Include their contact details in the application.
What to include in your application
In your application you need to tell us:
- applicant's name, address, postcode and contact details
- which groups the applicant self-identifies with and is happy to represent
- how the applicant will be a great board member and meet the skills in the role description
You can submit a written application of up to 500 words or you can submit an audio file or video up to 3 minutes long.
If the applicant is under 18 you must provide the following additional information:
- a supporting recommendation from an adult in the community who knows the applicant such as a teacher, youth worker or other professional (no more than 200 words).
- the applicant's guardian or parents' consent to be on the board so include their contact details when you apply
Send your application by email to prideinplace@bristol.gov.uk.
